The University
of Texas at Austin (in English: The University of Texas at Austin), informally
University of Texas (University of Texas), UT Austin or UT, is a public
University, the University of Texas school principal. 5 8 7 6 founded in 1883,
its campus is approximately 400 meters from the Texas State Capitol in Austin,
the capital of the us. State of Texas. The institution has the fifth highest
rate of students enrolled on the campus throughout the country (autumn 2010),
with over 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students, as well as 24,000
employees and teachers. Currently occupies the second position 9 in number of
students registered in the State, behind the 10 Texas A&M University.
The University
of Texas at Austin was one of eight institutions and receive originally the
title of Public Ivy11 and was accepted in the American Association of
universities in 1929.12 the University is a major academic research center, and
their spending exceeded the amount of 640 million dollars during the school
year of 2009-2010.13 has seven museums and seventeen libraries, including the
Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum and the Blanton Museum of art .14 and
is responsible for managing several auxiliary facilities, such as the Research
Campus j. j. Pickle and the McDonald Observatory. Several members of the
faculty at the University received the Nobel Prize, the Pulitzer Prize, the
Wolf Prize and National Medal of science, as well as several other awards. 15
The UT Austin
athletes compete with the Texas Longhorns, and belong to the Big 12 Conference.
The University has won four National Championships in NCAA Division I Football,
and has more titles in sports men and women than any other University of the
Big 12 since the League was founded, in former and current Athletes 1996.16 of
UT Austin has won 117 Olympic medals, including 14 in the Beijing Olympics, in
2008.17 the University was recognized by Sports Illustrated magazine as
"best University for sports of the country" in 2002.18
